End of Phase One …

"The time has come, the Walrus said ..." Over the past few weeks life has been pretty stressful.  I've travelled a lot for work, which has in turn disrupted home life with the kids, which has led to reduced time to think and write.  I've implemented a great  productivity system which I intended to shortly write about, but while I am doing more things it has also highlighted the mountain of things I had yet to do. Unfortunately I also have a few health issues that I am battling with - I'm sure I will get there.  On top of all that, there was the pressure of writing for the Carpe Diem. Originally, I wanted this blog to be an outlet, and something I enjoyed.  It still is, and in may ways the blog is not the thing that is causing my stress. It's been great, and I've slowly grown … [Read More...]

Do You Know What You Like to Do?

Do you know what you like to do?  On the face of it, that seems like a really stupid question!  Of course I know what I like to do .... don't I? As I think I've mentioned several times already, I've been doing lots of reading, and thinking, and exploring of ideas and concepts relating to exactly what it is I am here to do on this planet. … [Read More...]

Going Paperless Redux: Using Electronic Records and How to Prevent Identity Theft

Some time ago I wrote about going paperless.  The advantages of having a paperless electronic records system are many - reducing clutter, saving time, being more productive, easier access and cross filing of documents - the list goes on!  How many of you still have a messy paper based system at home?  I certainly was one of those people who … [Read More...]

Introducing Awesome Things, and How I Broke a Societal Convention

I received lots of positive feedback on the "Awesome People" concept - thanks to those that let me know they enjoyed it!  Following on from that, I'm going to kick off sooner rather than later a new section on The Carpe Diem.  I was going to let things bed down a little first, but then earlier this week I had something happen - or rather, I did … [Read More...]

Take the Slow Road!

Remembering to Slow Down and Enjoy the Journey

Awesome People #1: Nicole Rivera

Hi everyone!  I’m back home for a brief respite, quick unpack/wash the clothes/repack and off again  But I have just enough time to unveil one of the new things I want to do regularly on the Carpe Diem.  Welcome to – Awesome People. Since my marriage separation eight months ago, one of the things I [...]

On the Road Again

A quick update to let you all know that I’m traveling for work quite a fair bit over the next three weeks. At the moment I have my trusty iPad, but that’s not quite as conducive to blogging as I would like. Consequently things might be a little quieter than I would like on the [...]

The Carpe Diem Gets An Upgrade

Hello everybody, as you can see the Carpe Diem has had a facelift!  I have decided to use the Lifestyle theme from the Genesis framework.  I’m still tinkering around, so there may be a brief delay in posting new content while I get everything up and running.  I have plenty of upcoming posts though [...]

Thursday Morning Humour – The Bucket List

Came across this article via a link on Facebook, it made me laugh but I thought highly appropriate for the Carpe Diem. The article: First on my bucket list, um… buy a bucket! | Article | The Punch.  While this is obviously written tongue in cheek, I admit not not having a bucket list [...]

A Few Days Away …

I took some time out this week and had a few days away.  I actually caught up with a very good friend from school, we were both huge Cold Chisel fans back in the day, but we never saw them live. Some time back we made a deal that if they ever re-formed again we [...]
